We are so pleased that Metropolis Magazine took some time to tour Science Storms. You can read Belinda Lank’s article in the OBSERVED section of the July 2010 print issue, but if that is too old school,  “The Thrill of Science” is on their website with pictures and a video produced by Cortina Productions.

MSI-IIT Degree Program inspires teachers and students

As we posted earlier, the Museum of Science and Industry has teamed up with the Illinois Institute of Technology to offer a master’s degree in science education, as well as the science teaching endorsement required for Chicago Public School middle school teachers. The Chicago Tribune reports that this is the only such program in the country, using the hands-on, engaging exhibits Science Storms and YOU! The Experience to make science more fun and less intimidating for both teachers and students. “I felt that way I taught science completely changed,” says a middle school teacher in the master’s program. “Just let the kids explore by themselves and bring it back to a central point. … That’s something that (the museum courses) drive home with all of us.”
