Rondi Davies, Ph.D.
Title: Content Specialist
Role: Research, Content Development, Writing
Rondi is a science educator and content developer skilled at making science accessible to a museum audience. At Evidence Design, Rondi has developed content for Science Storms, the Dinosaur Halls at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and is currently working on Future Energy for the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago.
She earned a Ph.D. in Geology at Macquarie University, and a Bachelor of Science with honors at the University of Sydney, in Australia. Her Ph.D. research was on the geochemistry of diamonds and other high-pressure minerals in Earth’s mantle and earned her the prestigious Voisey Medal from the Geological Society of Australia. Other research achievements include sixteen peer-reviewed publications in international scientific journals and experience in geochemistry laboratories at Columbia University, Carnegie Institute of Washington, University College London, Argyle Diamonds, Yakutian Insitute of Science, Siberia and Kennecott, Canada. She has actively reviewed scientific articles for journal publication, presented her own research orally and as poster displays at conferences, written grant applications and provided training and carried out consulting for a number of diamond exploration companies in Canada.
Following a postdoctoral research fellowship in Australia, Rondi spent four years at the American Museum of Natural History as a postdoctoral research scientist, where she became involved with the Museum’s science outreach and education programs for children to adult learners. She served as a scientific instructor and content developer for the Seminar on Science online graduate courses in Earth and Ocean Sciences, Content Developer for the (Earth) Ology website for children, Instructor for the NYC public schools’ Teacher Renewal for Urban Science Teaching and Urban Advantage programs and Consultant, Instructor and Curriculum Developer for Physical Science components of the Hayden Astrophysics Outreach Program and After School High School programs. Rondi also researched and reviewed physical science features for national science textbooks developed by MacGraw Hill and Glencoe.
Rondi’s work experience also includes writer, guest editor, content consultant and reviewer for The Nature of Diamonds Exhibition produced by the American Museum of Natural History, Elements Magazine, and interactive games for the Magic School Bus by Scholastic. She also teaches Physical Science courses at Lehman College, CUNY.
